Mission

Valmiera city is aiming to learn from best experience of “IPSE 2020” partners in developing biomethane sector. In long term we are planning to develop cleaner public transport system in Vidzdeme region. We believe that biomethane can provide energy supply security, reduction of GHG emission and improving air quality in our regional cities.

Local Event – Seminar: «Sustainable public transport development in Vidzeme region: problems, challenges and opportunities.

Valmiera city local event will focus on existing problems, current challenges and future opportunities of sustainable public transport development in Vidzeme region in context of EU renewable energy and climate policy targets for year 2020. By 2020, the EU aims to have 10% of the transport fuel of every EU country come from renewable sources such as biofuels. Fuel suppliers are also required to reduce the greenhouse gas intensity of the EU fuel mix by 6% by 2020 in comparison to 2010

During seminar it will be discussed how the region is increasing its engagement with the EU can benefit from learning from other EU regions. The event will present some examples of regional projects and initiatives that are tackling key European challenges, sharing best practice and improving local service delivery.

The event will be aimed at national and local politicians, national and local authorities, Vidzeme Planning Region, Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences, NGO`s and other institutions. The content of the event will be designed to engage the audience including people who have little or no previous experience of European work and funding, in order to raise their awareness of the opportunities available.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
